About the Internship:
The Environmental Sustainability Internship seeks to build up the next generation of environmental leaders for global agriculture business practice and policy arena by harnessing the potential of students, practitioners, and developers in addressing key issues in food security, environmental health, and economic growth. We're hiring for several specialty areas: Mangrove Development, Waste Management, and Stormwater Capture.
Job Activities and Responsibilities:
Support product development and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) by assisting in the prototype process.
Support food production and Stormwater capture by researching and providing policy briefs on monetization of credits.
Collecting data on organizations, corporations, foundations, and other entities doing work in plant-based medicine and consolidate information into actionable items such as reports and presentations
Building key lists upcoming grants and funding opportunities, and develop timelines and research direction
Drafting blogs, letters, tweets, and other content for promotion and marketing
Requirements and Qualifications:
Fellow must be dedicated to improving social determinants of health, food security, and environmental health for communities globally. S/he must be committed to working in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary team. Successful candidates are self-driven and highly motivated individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit and special interest in connecting private sector motivation with the public good. Applicants must be:
Able to commit 10 consecutive weeks for virtual internship
Currently enrolled in accredited university; will provide internship credit, if applicable
A highly motivated self-starter
Experience with international audiences and stakeholders
Creative and innovative
Able to direct marketing and educational campaigns
Knowledgeable of food injustice and food security issues
Skilled in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
Able to execute effective peer-reviewed searches; some familiarity with Google Scholar

Support urban agriculture operations and farm administration in Washington
Researching and compiling data on plant based medicines and other natural products
Coordination of program management for operations, staff, fundraising and outreach
Establish business protocols, processes and frameworks for SGI internal operations
Provide support for outreach food access, urban farming, and sustainability programs using traditional and digital methods
Developing written materials, briefings, emails, calendar invitations, and other communications
Organizing online documents and files using SGI systems
Representing SGI at routine and special meetings
Requirements and Qualifications:
Intern must be dedicated to improving social determinants of health, food security, and environmental health for communities globally. The Marketing and Communications Internship seeks to build up the next generation of environmental leaders for global agriculture business practice and policy arena by harnessing the potential of students, practitioners, and developers in addressing key issues in food security, environmental health, and economic growth in and around Dakar, Senegal.
Job Activities and Responsibilities:
Generate content for use in all SGI communication channels, including website, social media, and email by conducting research and interviewing/meeting with ATD staff.
Research and compile best practices in social media.
Provide scan of SGI website to help team’s work in documenting pages that need to be updated, changed, deleted.
Assist in developing a process to update contact lists used for mailings, including email blasts.
Research trends in digital marketing, including design, delivery, and content.
Attend and document relevant meetings with internal staff and external designers, website developers, etc.
Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree student in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
Must have strong written and oral communication skills and a professional demeanor.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized, the candidate must be able to keep track of multiple projects and help move them forward simultaneously.
Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work productively and independently and produce high-quality work under time constraints.
Must have a tolerance for ambiguity and a fast-paced environment.
